My Own Private Idaho (1991): This American independent film, directed by Gus Van Sant, is a loose adaptation of Shakespeare's Henry IV and Henry V plays. It stars River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves as two friends who embark on a journey of self-discovery.

Vishal Bhardwaj's Shakespeare trilogy (2003-2014): Indian director Vishal Bhardwaj has adapted three of Shakespeare's plays into Hindi-language films: Maqbool (Macbeth), Omkara (Othello), and Haider (Hamlet). All three movies are set in different parts of India and feature impressive casts of Indian actors.

These movies demonstrate the universal appeal and versatility of Shakespeare's work, and how his plays can be adapted to different times, cultures, and contexts while still retaining their powerful themes and messages.
